Bac Giang

On Sunday, the group left Hanoi for Bac Giang, a city in a province to the North of Hanoi, also named Bac Giang. Again, we used Hanoi's public bus system, which already brought us from the airport to Hanoi or got us aroung the city during our explorations. Using the bus can be very crowded but it is the cheapest means of transportation: The 2 hours bus drive to Bac Giang only cost us 19.000 VND per person (1 dollar).
Once arrived in Bac Giang, we could clearly see the difference between the more rural city and the metropole Hanoi.

The journey begins!

After nearly a year of organising and fundraising, all project members finally arrived in Hanoi. Except for two members, this is their first visit and the first few days were much needed to adapt to the extreme temperatures (39" C during midday). We also used the time for cultural explorations.

Fund raising Event in Berlin, Germany

On the 28th of December 2009, two members of the Vietnam Summer Project 2009 attended the annual meeting of the Vietnamese "Kinh Bac" Society Germany in Berlin, Germany. We were kindly given the chance to talk about the United World Colleges as well as Vietnam Summer Project 2009 in front of more than 200 members of the Society. In the following fund raising event, Vietnam Summer Project received the generous donation of 215,00 € from various members as well as 100,00 € from the Society!
In total, we have raised 315,00 € on one evening!

We sincerely thank all donors for their generosity!
